That’s it?

Let’s be clear: having an excellent background in grammar, being able to play with words, and recognizing the various nuances of meaning are invaluable for high-quality translations. With one’s own mother tongue this is difficult enough; with a foreign language, almost impossible.

Aside from a few rare exceptions, I firmly believe that an impactful translation can only be achieved when working into one's native language. Clients and colleagues are sometimes surprised when I mention I only translate into Italian. However, translation is often misunderstood as simple multilingualism. True translation requires the deep, instinctive cultural awareness that only a native speaker possesses to capture vocabulary shifts and lexical evolution. This is why, despite my bilingual background, I choose to focus exclusively on translating into Italian—ensuring my clients' message never loses its tone of voice.
